Alyssum alyssoides L.

Alyssum alyssoides is a flowering plant in the Brassicaceae family, commonly known as Pale Alyssum. It is native to Eurasia and has been introduced to temperate regions worldwide, including parts of North America and Europe. It is often found in arable fields, sandy areas, and disturbed sites. The species was first published in 1759 by Linnaeus.
Description
Alyssum alyssoides is a member of the Brassicaceae (mustard) family and is widely distributed across Eurasia and introduced to regions such as Newfoundland, Alberta, and parts of Europe. It is known to occur in agricultural fields, sandy tracks, and disturbed habitats. The species was originally described by Linnaeus in 1759. There has been taxonomic confusion regarding its nomenclature, including misapplication of names such as Alyssum minus and Alyssum campestre. Linnaeus later substituted Alyssum alyssoides for the nomen nudum Clypeola minor. A neotype was designated to clarify the synonymy of A. campestre (1759) with A. alyssoides.
