Mangifera altissima, known as pahutan, is a species of mango native to the Philippines and surrounding regions in Indonesia, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands. It is not cultivated commercially but is collected from the wild in the Philippines. The species was first described in 1837 by Blanco.

Description

Mangifera altissima belongs to the Anacardiaceae family and is found in the Bismarck Archipelago, Lesser Sunda Is., Maluku, New Guinea, Philippines, Solomon Is., and Sulawesi. It produces small, pale yellow fruits when ripe, which are sweet but more fibrous than those of the cultivated Mangifera indica, such as Carabao mangoes. The species faces threats due to habitat loss.
