Paeonia intermedia is a flowering plant in the Paeoniaceae family, native to Central Asia, the Altai Mountains, and Xinjiang in China. It grows as a perennial herb up to 70 cm tall, typically found on scrubby and grassy slopes and in open woodlands at elevations between 1,100 and 3,000 m. It is diploid with a karyotype of 2n = 2x = 10 = 6m + 2sm + 2st.

Description

Paeonia intermedia, described by C.A.Mey. in 1830, is a member of the Paeoniaceae family. It is a perennial herb native to Central Asia, the Altai Mountains, and Xinjiang in China. The plant reaches a height of 70 cm and is commonly found on scrubby and grassy slopes, as well as in open woodlands, at elevations between 1,100 and 3,000 m. It has a diploid chromosome number with a karyotypic formula of 2n = 2x = 10 = 6m + 2sm + 2st.
