Paeonia daurica subsp. macrophylla is a subspecies of Paeonia daurica native to the western Caucasus in Georgia. It grows at elevations between 800 and 1000 meters on rocky slopes and in alpine valleys. Previously classified as a distinct species, Paeonia macrophylla, it was reclassified as a subspecies in 2002 by Hong Deyuan. The plant features dark green leaves and white flowers with a yellow tinge, blooming in late spring or early summer.
Description
Paeonia daurica subsp. macrophylla is found in the western Caucasus region of Georgia. It thrives in rocky habitats and alpine valleys at elevations between 800 and 1000 meters. This subspecies was once considered a separate species, Paeonia macrophylla, but was later reclassified under Paeonia daurica by Hong Deyuan in 2002. The plant has dark green foliage and produces white flowers with a yellow tinge during late spring or early summer.
