Packera actinella, known as flagstaff ragwort, is a perennial herb in the Asteraceae family. It is native to Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of northern Mexico. The plant is adapted to arid environments and is typically found in ponderosa pine forests, where it produces solitary flowering heads on long stalks above a perennial basal mat.

Description

Packera actinella is a flowering plant in the Asteraceae family, previously classified under the genus Senecio. It is a perennial herb that grows in arid regions, particularly in ponderosa pine forests. The plant features a basal rosette and produces solitary flowering heads on elongated stems. It is found in the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, specifically in Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of the Mexican states of Chihuahua and Sonora. The species was first described in 1981 under its current scientific name by W.A. Weber and Á. Löve, reclassifying it from its former name, Senecio actinella.
