Mucuna urens (L.) Medik., a species from the Fabaceae family, is a large liana native to tropical Central and South America, with an introduced range in the Republic of the Congo. It is known by the common names oxeye bean and horse-eye bean. The species was published in 1787.

Description

Mucuna urens is a climbing plant within the Fabaceae family, commonly referred to as oxeye bean. It is distributed across regions including Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Guyana, and Haiti. The species has also been recorded in the Republic of the Congo, where it is considered introduced. The name was first published in 1787. Although a specimen attributed to Plukenet in Herb. Sloane was cited as type material by Howard in 1988, it was not examined by Linnaeus and is not considered original material for the name.
