Description
Achyranthes bidentata, a member of the Amaranthaceae family, is found in parts of Asia and Africa. The plant's root juice is used in Nepal for toothache relief, and it is applied externally in Mizoram, India, for leech bites. A decoction of the plant is used as a diuretic. The seeds of A. bidentata have also served as a substitute for cereal grains in times of food scarcity. This species was first described in 1826 by Blume.
