Oryza brachyantha is a grass species in the genus Oryza, native to tropical Africa. It is an annual grass that grows in tufts and is distantly related to the cultivated rice species O. sativa.

Description

Oryza brachyantha, described by A.Chev. & Roehr. in 1914, belongs to the grass family Poaceae. It is distributed across the Afrotropical region and parts of the Global Tropics, including countries such as Chad, Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Mauritania, Myanmar, Niger, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Sudan, Zambia, Zaïre, Base-Guinée, and Haute-Guinée. This species is an annual grass that grows in tufts and is distantly related to the cultivated rice species Oryza sativa.
