Liquidambar orientalis, known as oriental sweet-gum, is a deciduous tree native to the eastern Mediterranean. It is primarily found in the floodplains of southwestern Turkey and on the Greek island of Rhodes, often forming pure stands. The species belongs to the genus Liquidambar and the family Altingiaceae.

Description

Oriental sweet-gum is a member of the Altingiaceae family and is part of the Liquidambar genus. It is distributed across the eastern Mediterranean, particularly in Turkey and the Greek island of Rhodes. The species was first described by Mill. in 1768. It typically grows in floodplain habitats and is adapted to the region's climate and soil conditions.
