Urera kaalae, known as opuhe, is a flowering plant in the Urticaceae family native to Oʻahu, Hawaii. It grows in mesic forests between 300–760 m (980–2,490 ft) in the southern and central Waiʻanae Mountains. The plant is associated with several native species and faces threats from habitat loss.

Description

Urera kaalae is endemic to Oʻahu and is found in mesic forest slopes and gulches. It is currently restricted to the Waiʻanae Mountains and is associated with a variety of native plants such as maile, hame, and Hibiscus spp. The species is at risk due to habitat degradation.
