One-Flower Pyrola

Moneses uniflora is a plant species native to moist coniferous forests in temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere. It is the sole representative of the genus Moneses. The species is widely distributed in regions including Labrador, Newfoundland, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec, Saskatchewan, Yukon, Saint Pierre and Miquelon, as well as parts of Europe such as Belgium, the Flemish Region, Walloon Region, and France. The name was first published in 1848. Typification of the species has been discussed in botanical literature, with Basu (1990) and Dorr & Barrie (1993) both concluding that the holotype should be modified to a lectotype under the rules of nomenclature.
