Olinia ventosa (L.) Cufod. is a large, evergreen forest tree native to South Africa. It belongs to the family Penaeaceae and is part of the genus Olinia. The species was published in 1960 and is commonly known as the hard-pear. It is distributed globally but is indigenous to the Cape Provinces. The name Plectronia Linnaeus was rejected in favor of Olinia Thunb.
