Oleandra wallichii
Oleandra wallichii (Hook.) C.Presl

Oleandra wallichii is a fern species in the Oleandraceae family, native to regions including Assam, China, Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, and Vietnam. It was first described in 1836. The plant features a creeping rhizome with persistent peltate scales and monomorphic fronds with a bicolorous stipe and thin-herbaceous lamina. The sori are closely aligned with the costa and have small indusia. Spores are echinate and ridged.
Description
Oleandra wallichii has a creeping rhizome, 3–4 mm thick, with leafless segments alternating with short phyllopodia clusters. The rhizome is covered in peltate scales, 3–7 x 1–1.5 mm, with a dark center and lighter margin. Fronds are monomorphic, with a stipe 1–5 cm long, often bicolorous on the abaxial side. The lamina is 13–45 x 2–4.5 cm, with a truncate to rounded base and an abruptly caudate apex. It is thin-herbaceous, translucent, and densely covered with catenate hairs. The costa has dark coloration in the basal half and pale scales. Sori are close to the costa, with thin, glabrous or hairy indusia. Sporangial stalks lack glands below the sporangium, and spores are echinate and ridged with a solid perispore.
