Gouania vitifolia, known as Oahu Chewstick, is a critically endangered flowering plant in the Rhamnaceae family. Endemic to Hawaii, it was first described in 1854 by A. Gray. Less than 50 individuals remain, with many lost in a 2018 wildfire.

Description

Gouania vitifolia is a member of the buckthorn family, Rhamnaceae, and is native to the Hawaiian Islands. Commonly referred to as Oahu Chewstick, it is critically endangered, with fewer than 50 plants remaining. A significant portion of the population was destroyed in a wildfire in 2018. The species was first published by Asa Gray in 1854.
