Micranthemum micranthemoides is an extinct species of subaquatic plant in the family Linderniaceae, known as Nuttall's mudflower. It was native to wet areas in the Nearctic region, including Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. The species was first described in 1891 by Wettst. and is often confused with the similar species Micranthemum glomeratum in aquascaping.

Description

Micranthemum micranthemoides, or Nuttall's mudflower, was a subaquatic plant species that once occurred in wet habitats from Virginia to New York. It belongs to the genus Micranthemum and the family Linderniaceae. The species is now extinct and was formally described in 1891 by Wettst. Due to its morphological similarity to Micranthemum glomeratum, it is frequently misidentified in aquascaping contexts. Its historical distribution included parts of the eastern United States, such as Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.
