Noahdendron nicholasii is a species in the witch-hazel family Hamamelidaceae, native to Queensland. It is the sole member of the monotypic genus Noahdendron, which is one of three such genera in Australia within this family. It is closely related to Ostrearia, Neostrearia, Trichocladus, and Dicoryphe, forming a distinct clade.

Description

Noahdendron nicholasii, described in 1985 by P.K. Endress, B. Hyland, and Tracey, is a plant species belonging to the genus Noahdendron in the Hamamelidaceae family. This genus contains only one species and is one of three monotypic genera in Australia within this family. The species is native to Queensland and is closely related to other monotypic genera such as Ostrearia and Neostrearia, as well as to Trichocladus from southern Africa and Dicoryphe from Madagascar. These five genera form a distinct evolutionary group within the Hamamelidaceae.
