Knightia excelsa, commonly known as New Zealand-honeysuckle or rewarewa, is an evergreen tree native to the forests of New Zealand. It is found in the North Island and at the southern tip of the South Island, particularly in the Marlborough Sounds. The species is the type for the genus Knightia and was first described in 1810.

Description

Knightia excelsa is a tree species belonging to the Proteaceae family. It is endemic to New Zealand, where it grows in low elevation and valley forests. The plant is known by the Māori name rewarewa and is recognized as the type species of the genus Knightia. Its distribution is limited to the North Island and the northern part of the South Island. The species was first published by R.Br. in 1810.
