Description

Fuchsia excorticata is the largest species in the Fuchsia genus and the only deciduous Fuchsia in New Zealand. It is native to the region and is commonly found in lowland and montane habitats. The tree's bark peels in thin, paper-like sheets, a characteristic that gives it its scientific name. It is a significant component of forest margins and riparian zones in its native range.
