Description
Nephelium ramboutan-ake is a member of the Sapindaceae family and is native to regions including Cambodia, Brazil, Assam, Bangladesh, Borneo, the East Himalaya, Java, Malaya, the Maluku Islands, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sumatra, and Thailand. It is often mistaken for rambutan due to their close relationship. The fruit is generally eaten fresh and is considered sweeter than rambutan and lychee. Its limited availability outside Southeast Asia makes it a less commonly encountered fruit in other parts of the world.
