Nepenthes palawanensis is a tropical pitcher plant found only on Sultan Peak, Palawan, Philippines, at elevations between 1,100 and 1,236 meters. It was discovered in February 2010 by Jehson Cervancia and Stewart McPherson.
Description
Nepenthes palawanensis is a member of the Nepenthaceae family and is native to the Philippines. It is restricted to Sultan Peak on the island of Palawan, where it grows in a limited range at high elevations. The species was formally described in 2010 by Stewart McPherson, Jehson Cervancia, Chi-Chih Lee, Juris Jaunzems, Michael Meÿ, and A. S. Rob. Its discovery marked a significant addition to the known biodiversity of the region.
