Nepenthes monticola is a tropical pitcher plant found in the west central highlands of western New Guinea, growing at elevations between 1,400 and 2,620 meters. It was formally described as a species in 2011, having previously been grouped with the closely related N. lamii.

Description

Nepenthes monticola belongs to the genus Nepenthes in the family Nepenthaceae. It is native to the highland regions of western New Guinea. The species was first described in 2011 by A.S.Rob., Wistuba, Nerz, M.Mansur, and S.McPherson. Before its formal recognition, it was considered part of N. lamii. The plant is adapted to high-altitude environments and is part of the broader distribution of Nepenthes species in the region.
