Nepenthes leonardoi is a tropical pitcher plant found in a single locality in central Palawan, Philippines. It is closely related to other Palawan endemics such as N. deaniana, N. gantungensis, and N. mira. The species is characterized by pitchers that can reach at least 24 cm in height, with some individuals producing upper pitchers of very dark coloration, nearly black.

Description

Nepenthes leonardoi is a member of the genus Nepenthes in the family Nepenthaceae. It was described in 2011 by S.McPherson, Bourke, Cervancia, Jaunzems, and A.S.Rob. This species is known from only one location in central Palawan, Philippines. It shares close affinities with other endemic species in the region. The pitchers of N. leonardoi can grow to a height of at least 24 cm, and some specimens are distinguished by their dark, nearly black upper pitchers.
