Persicaria nepalensis (Meisn.) Miyabe

Persicaria nepalensis, known as Nepal Knotweed, is a flowering plant in the Polygonaceae family. It is native to eastern Africa and parts of Asia, and has been introduced to regions in Europe, North America, and northern South America. The species was first described as Polygonum nepalense by Carl Meissner in 1826 and later reclassified into the genus Persicaria by Hugo Gross in 1913. It was formally published under its current name in 1934 by Miyabe.
