Neostenanthera gabonensis (Engl. & Diels) Exell

Neostenanthera gabonensis is a species in the Annonaceae family, native to several countries in West and Central Africa. It was first described in 1935 by Heinrich Gustav Adolf Engler and Ludwig Diels, initially under the name Oxymitra gabonensis. The species name refers to Gabon, where the original specimen was collected near Sibange-Farm.
Description
Neostenanthera gabonensis is a member of the Annonaceae, a family of flowering plants commonly known as the custard apple family. It is found in Cabinda, Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Liberia, and the Republic of the Congo. The species was first formally described in 1935 by German botanists Heinrich Gustav Adolf Engler and Ludwig Diels, who named it based on a specimen collected in Gabon. The original description used the name Oxymitra gabonensis, but it was later reclassified under the genus Neostenanthera by Exell.
