Nemesia caerulea is a herbaceous perennial with blue to purple flowers in the Scrophulariaceae family. It is native to the Cape Floristic Province in southwestern South Africa, where it thrives on low-elevation, north- and northwest-facing slopes alongside native grasses and forbs. The species has a chromosome number of 2n=18.
Description
Nemesia caerulea, described by Hiern in 1904, is a flowering plant in the figwort family (Scrophulariaceae). It is found in the Cape Floristic Province and grows in open, sunny habitats. The plant is characterized by its vibrant blue to purple flowers and is adapted to low-elevation, fully exposed slopes. It is associated with native grasses and forbs in its natural range.
