Galeopsis angustifolia, known as Narrowleaf hempnettle, is a European annual plant in the Lamiaceae family. It grows up to 30 cm tall and flowers from June to October in stony areas such as waste ground and railway tracks. The species is critically endangered, with a significant decline in the last 60 years due to the use of fertilizers, herbicides, and modern farming practices like autumn cultivation that prevent the plant from setting seed.

Description

Galeopsis angustifolia is a member of the Lamiaceae family and is found across parts of Europe, including countries such as Finland, Norway, Belgium, France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Belarus, Estonia, Slovakia, and Corsica. It is an annual plant that thrives in disturbed environments. Its decline has been attributed to agricultural intensification, including the use of chemical inputs and changes in land management practices that disrupt its life cycle before it can reproduce.
