Cyanea superba, a member of the Campanulaceae family, is a rare flowering plant known as Mt. Kaala cyanea. Endemic to Oahu, Hawaii, it is now extinct in the wild but survives in cultivation and has been reintroduced to suitable habitats. It is listed as an endangered species in the United States and is referred to as haha in Hawaiian.

Description

Cyanea superba, described by A. Gray in 1861, is part of the genus Cyanea within the bellflower family. Once native to Oahu, the species is now extinct in the wild. Conservation efforts have led to its cultivation and limited reintroduction into appropriate environments. As an endangered species in the U.S., it is recognized for its ecological significance and cultural reference as haha in the Hawaiian language.
