Leucadendron strobilinum (L.) Druce is a species in the Proteaceae family, known as Mountain Rose or peninsula conebush. It is native to the Cape Peninsula in South Africa, where it grows on damp, rocky slopes at elevations between 500 and 1100 meters. The plant can reach up to 2.6 meters in height. Its conservation status is Near Threatened, primarily due to habitat degradation from inappropriate fire management, fire-break clearing, and invasive alien plants.

Description

Leucadendron strobilinum is a member of the Proteaceae family and is restricted to the Cape Peninsula. It thrives in moist, rocky environments at mid to high elevations. The species is threatened by human activities that disrupt its natural habitat, including improper fire regimes and the spread of non-native vegetation. First described in 1917, it is part of the genus Leucadendron, which is native to the region and known for its ecological and ornamental significance.
