Trillium maculatum, known as Mottled Trillium, is a flowering plant in the Melanthiaceae family. It is part of the Trillium cuneatum complex, a group of closely related sessile-flowered trilliums. The species is native to the southeastern United States, occurring in Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and northern Florida.

Description

Trillium maculatum was first described in 1830 by Rafinesque. It is found in a limited geographic range, primarily in the southeastern U.S. The species is characterized by its mottled appearance and belongs to the genus Trillium, known for its distinctive three-part structure. Its global distribution is restricted to the regions mentioned.
