Description
Mostuea brunonis, described in 1853 by Didr., is a shrub species belonging to the Gelsemiaceae family. It is distributed across several African countries, including Angola, Burundi, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Tanzania, Zambia, Zaïre, and Zimbabwe. In Angola, it is found growing in open forest, forest galleries, and thicket environments. Locally, it is referred to as 'kapoloto' (kb) in the C. N. region. The species has been collected by F. Monteiro (specimen number 752, housed at LUAI and LISC). It is used for the production of medicinal artefacts.
