Monodora grandidieri is a species in the Annonaceae family, native to Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Somalia, and Tanzania. It was first described by Henri Ernest Baill. in 1868 and named in honor of the French naturalist Alfred Grandidier. The species is used as a traditional medicine by the Giriama and Digo people of Kenya.

Description

Monodora grandidieri belongs to the Annonaceae family and is found in several East African countries, including Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Somalia, and Tanzania. The species was formally described in 1868 by the French botanist Henri Ernest Baill., who named it after the French naturalist and explorer Alfred Grandidier, who collected the specimen used for its description. In Kenya, the plant is utilized in traditional medicine by the Giriama and Digo communities.
