Lecythis zabucajo is a species in the Lecythidaceae family, commonly known as monkeynut. It was first described by Aubl. in 1775. The species is native to Amazonia and surrounding regions, including parts of Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela.

Description

Lecythis zabucajo belongs to the genus Lecythis and is part of the Lecythidaceae family. It is found in various Amazonian regions, including the southern part of the Vichada department in Colombia, the southeast of Meta, and the territories of Amazonas, Caquetá, Guainía, Guaviare, Putumayo, and Vaupés. It also occurs in the Bota Caucana and the Amazonian slopes of Nariño. The species has a broader distribution across the Neotropics, extending to Bolivia, Brazil (north), Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad-Tobago, and Venezuela. It was first published in 1775.
