Monanthes anagensis
Monanthes anagensis Praeger

Monanthes anagensis is a species in the Crassulaceae family, native to the Canary Islands. It is the largest species in the genus Monanthes, forming small shrubs approximately 15 cm tall. The plant has linear-elliptic leaves, 1.5–2 cm long, and ovoid buds. It differs from Monanthes laxiflora by its shrubby growth, alternate leaves that are green, red, or purplish, and not grey.
Description
Monanthes anagensis is distinguished by its shrubby habit and alternate leaves that are green, red, or purplish in color, never grey. The leaves are linear-elliptic, 1.5–2 cm long, and spaced loosely. The ovoid buds set it apart from Monanthes laxiflora, which has broader buds. When stunted, it may resemble M. laxiflora but is clearly differentiated by its growth form and leaf characteristics. This species was first described in 1925 by Praeger.
