Moehringia villosa, commonly known as the short-haired sandwort, is a flowering plant in the Caryophyllaceae family. It is endemic to Slovenia, where it is found in a limited range within the southern Julian Alps. The species is restricted to sunny, rocky, and dry habitats, particularly in rock crevices. Its extent of occurrence is less than 1,000 square kilometres.
Description
Moehringia villosa is a member of the Caryophyllaceae family and is native exclusively to Slovenia. It is found in the southern Julian Alps in rocky, dry, and sunny environments. The plant is adapted to grow in narrow rock crevices. Due to its restricted distribution, it is considered a species with a very limited range. The species was first described in 1833 and is known by the scientific name Moehringia villosa (Wulfen) Fenzl.
