Micromeria graeca (L.) Benth. ex Rchb., a member of the Lamiaceae family, is native to a wide range across southern Europe and northern Africa, including Albania, Algeria, France, Greece, Italy, Libya, Morocco, Spain, and Turkey. First described in 1831, the species is distributed across multiple regions, spanning from the Balkans to the Maghreb. The type specimen for the name is not the unannotated collection cited by Siddiqi in 1985, as it does not represent original material by Linnaeus.

Description

Micromeria graeca is a species within the genus Micromeria, part of the Lamiaceae family, commonly known as the mint family. It is found in a broad geographic range, including the Iberian Peninsula, the Italian Peninsula, the Balearic Islands, Sardinia, Sicily, the Balkans, and North Africa. The species was formally published in 1831. Earlier type designations, such as the one referenced by Siddiqi in 1985, are not considered valid as they lack Linnaean annotations and do not constitute original material for the name.
