Microgramma megalophylla (Desv.) de la Sota is an epiphytic fern in the family Polypodiaceae. It is native to tropical South America and is found in several protected areas in Colombia, including the Parque Nacional Natural Serranía de Chiribiquete and others in Amazonas, Caquetá, and surrounding regions, as well as in Bolivia, Brazil, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, and Venezuela. This species is a myrmecophyte, with its rhizome producing domatia that provide shelter for ants.

Description

Microgramma megalophylla is a member of the Polypodiaceae family and is characterized by its epiphytic growth habit. It is distributed across several South American countries, particularly within the Amazon basin. The plant forms part of the myrmecophyte community, where its rhizome structures serve as homes for ants. The species was first described in 1963 and is commonly found in protected natural reserves and national parks in the region.
