Melampyrum barbatum is a species in the Orobanchaceae family, native to Central and Eastern Europe. It was first described in 1800 by Waldst. & Kit. ex Willd.

Description

Melampyrum barbatum is a member of the Orobanchaceae family, commonly known as the broomrape family. It is distributed across several countries in Central and Eastern Europe, including the Czech Republic, Poland, Albania, Austria, Hungary, Italy, Romania, and former Yugoslavia. The species was first scientifically described in 1800 by Waldst. & Kit. ex Willd. and belongs to the genus Melampyrum, which includes other herbaceous plants known for their parasitic or hemiparasitic growth habits.
