Micranthes nidifica (Greene) Small, commonly known as meadow saxifrage, is a species in the Saxifragaceae family. It is native to regions including British Columbia, California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming, as well as the East Himalaya. This perennial herb grows from a caudex and rhizomes, forming a basal rosette of leaves. The leaves can reach up to 10 cm in length, with smooth or slightly toothed blades on slender petioles. The plant produces an inflorescence up to 50 cm tall, bearing clusters of white-petaled flowers.
Description
Micranthes nidifica is a member of the Saxifragaceae family and is found in moist habitats, often in mountainous areas of the northwestern United States and East Himalaya. It is a perennial herb that grows from a caudex and rhizome system, forming a basal rosette of leaves. Each leaf is up to 10 cm long, with a smooth or minutely toothed blade on a thin petiole. The inflorescence rises on a peduncle up to 50 cm tall and bears clusters of flowers with white petals. The species was first described in 1905.
