Matayba ayangannensis is a shrub in the Sapindaceae family, native to Guyana. It was described in 2011 by Acev.-Rodr. and is distinguished by its brittle, discolorous leaflets and ferruginous-pubescent calyx. It is named after Mt. Ayanganna, the location of the type collection.

Description

Matayba ayangannensis is a shrub reaching up to 2.5 m tall, with glabrous, striate stems. Its paripinnate leaves have 4 to 6 leaflets, each 2.5–4.5 x 1.2–2.3 cm, obovate to nearly elliptic, with a brittle, coriaceous texture and a discolorous appearance. The abaxial surface dries brownish and is puberulent, especially along the midvein. Thyrses are 8–18 cm long, axillary, and ferruginous-pubescent. Flowers are in simple dichasia with yellowish white petals and a ferruginous-pubescent calyx. The species differs from Matayba yutajensis by its smaller, brittle leaflets and shorter, ferruginous-pubescent calyx. The name refers to Mt. Ayanganna, where the type was collected.
