Marie's Fir

Abies mariesii is a fir species in the family Pinaceae, native to the mountains of central and northern Honshū, Japan. It is commonly known as Marie's Fir. This species grows at altitudes of 750–1,900 m in northern Honshū and 1,800–2,900 m in central Honshū. It is adapted to temperate rainforest conditions with high rainfall, cool, humid summers, and heavy winter snowfall.

Abies mariesii, known as Marie's Fir, is a fir species in the genus Abies and family Pinaceae. It is native to the mountainous regions of central and northern Honshū, Japan. The tree is found at elevations of 750–1,900 m in northern Honshū and 1,800–2,900 m in central Honshū. It thrives in temperate rainforest environments characterized by high rainfall, cool and humid summers, and heavy winter snowfall. The species was first described in 1879 by Mast.
