Mammea siamensis is a flowering tree in the Calophyllaceae family, native to Cambodia, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. It is known as Trau tráu in Vietnamese and salapee in Thailand and Laos. The tree grows 5 to 15 metres tall and is found in lowland and montane tropical moist forests between 10 and 1,300 metres elevation.

Description

Mammea siamensis is a small evergreen tree with fragrant yellow or white flowers and a small oval fruit. It is part of the Calophyllaceae family and is native to Indochina and Peninsular Malaysia, particularly Penang. The species was first described in 1867 and is known by local names in several Southeast Asian countries.
