Mammea papuana is a flowering plant species in the Calophyllaceae family, native to the East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. It typically grows in lowland rainforest habitats.

Description

Mammea papuana is a shrub or tree species belonging to the genus Mammea in the family Calophyllaceae. It is indigenous to eastern New Guinea, particularly the East Sepik Province of Papua New Guinea, as well as the Solomon Islands. The species is adapted to lowland rainforest environments. It was formally described in 1956 by Kostermans, with the scientific name based on the original work of Lauterbach.
