Malus kansuensis
Malus kansuensis (Batalin) C.K.Schneid.

Malus kansuensis, a species in the genus Malus of the Rosaceae family, is a small tree or shrub reaching 3–8 m in height. Native to central and southeastern China, it blooms from May to June with white flowers approximately 0.5 cm in size, and bears yellow to red fruits 1–1.5 cm in diameter from July to August. It grows in mixed forests or shrubs at elevations of 1500–3300 m. The species has a chromosome number of 2n = 34.
Description
Malus kansuensis is a deciduous tree or shrub with oval to ovate leaves, 4.9–5.4 × 3.6–3.9 cm in size, with a rounded to cordate base and crenate to serrulate margins. The inflorescence is corymbose, bearing 4–10 white, obovate flowers. The pome is ellipsoidal with fruit spots. Branches are terete and pubescent when young. The species is found in terrestrial, seasonally green habitats across central and southeastern China.
