Cycas thouarsii, the Madagascar Cycad, is an evergreen arborescent cycad in the genus Cycas, part of the Cycadaceae family. It is named after the French botanist Louis-Marie Aubert du Petit-Thouars.

Description

Cycas thouarsii is a species of cycad native to Madagascar and parts of Africa, as well as other regions including South China and Brazil. It is a member of the Cycadaceae family and is characterized by its arborescent growth form. The species was first described in 1810 by Robert Brown, in honor of the French botanist Louis-Marie Aubert du Petit-Thouars.
