Lygodium polystachyum is a species in the genus Lygodium, belonging to the family Lygodiaceae. It was first described in 1859 by Wall. This species is native to several regions in Southeast and East Asia.

Lygodium polystachyum is a member of the genus Lygodium within the Lygodiaceae family. It was scientifically documented in 1859 by Wall. The species is distributed across Assam, South-Central and Southeast China, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, Sulawesi, Thailand, and Vietnam. It is part of a widespread group of climbing ferns known for their distinctive, often coiled fronds and ecological adaptability to tropical and subtropical environments.
