Lycopodiella longipes (Hook. & Grev.) Holub is a member of the Lycopodiaceae family, commonly known as the clubmoss family. It is native to regions spanning from Brazil to Central America and the Guianas. In the Guianas, it has been recorded in 21 collections, with 18 from Guyana and 3 from Suriname. The species is noted as rare in the Guianas, occurring at the eastern edge of its range in Suriname, specifically in the large interior savannas.

Description

Lycopodiella longipes is distributed across several South and Central American countries, including Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Guatemala, Guyana, Paraguay, Suriname, and Venezuela. In the Guianas, it is primarily found in Guyana, with fewer records from Suriname. The species is associated with large savanna habitats in the interior of Suriname, where it is considered rare. It was formally described in 1991 and belongs to the genus Lycopodiella, a group of clubmosses known for their small, creeping growth habit and spore-producing structures.
