Luehea ochrophylla is a species in the Malvaceae family, described by Martius in 1841. The original material is based on Martius collection number 523, part of the 'Martii Herbar Florae Brasil' collection. A lectotype has been designated as Martius 523 (L 2352817) following Art. 9.3 of the ICN, as it is the most complete and best-preserved specimen matching the protologue. The species is distributed in Brazil, including the Northeast, North, and Southeast regions.

Description

The species was initially reported with collection number 523 by Martius, but Cunha (1985) mistakenly cited Luschnath 24 as the holotype without examining it. This specimen was not part of the original description and thus not considered valid type material. The correct type material is Martius 523, preserved primarily in the M herbarium with duplicates in other collections. The name L. ochrophylla is confirmed as an accepted species based on the designated lectotype and aligns with the protologue description. The species is recognized in the neotropical genus Luehea and is part of the Malvaceae family.
