Description

Luehea speciosa is a member of the Malvaceae family and is distributed across several countries in Central and South America, including Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, and others. The holotype for this species was identified as a single fertile specimen in Herbarium B, with the barcode B-W 14376 – 010. This determination was made due to the absence of duplicates of the original sample collected by Bredemeyer. The species was first published by Willd. in 1801, and its name application has been confirmed as an accepted species based on studies by Burret (1926), Rijckevorsel (2005), Brummitt (2007), and the current typification study.
