Louisiana canna

Canna glauca L. is a member of the Cannaceae family and is native to tropical America, particularly in wetland habitats. It is commonly referred to as Louisiana canna and was introduced to England in 1730. The species has been reported to be naturalized in parts of Asia, including Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Java, and the Philippines. The scientific name was published in 1753. The species has a wide distribution across the Nearctic and Neotropical regions, as well as in various countries including Brazil, Argentina, Bermuda, Bolivia, and Colombia. A discussion regarding the lectotype designation by Tanaka notes that the material selected does not qualify as original material for the name, and thus cannot be considered a valid neotypification under the relevant nomenclatural rules.
