Houstonia longifolia, described by Gaertn. in 1788, is a member of the Rubiaceae family. It is distributed across Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan, and several U.S. states including Vermont, Alabama, Arkansas, and Florida. This species is commonly found in upland woods with poor, dry, and often sandy soils. Its range includes most states east of the Mississippi River, excluding Delaware, and extends into parts of North Dakota, Minnesota, Missouri, Arkansas, and Oklahoma, with isolated populations in Kansas and Texas.
